and yet he possessed a high order of intelligence.
In August. 1815. he was elected a delegate to the
second State Coiistitutional Convention, and in 1858
he wa.s chosen a. (rountv representative. with Dr.
Samuel Mt-Guire as his associate. In 1878 he was
elected county a.ttornev. In April. 1881. he removed
to Colorado. to live with his daughter. Mrs. Katie
Dameron. where he died. His children have a.ll left
us. I knew the family well, and can testify to their
faseinating beauty. their remarkable protieienc-v in
music. their (l1{111l1l1]g graces. and thei-r edut-ational
aeeomplishments. The three daughters of Col. Pitt
were a. triad of noble sisters. charining wives. and
true and faithful inothers. Children: ["] James Frost
Pitt. b. in 1851; is a rising lawver of St. Joseph. He
is. even now. one of the best praetitioners of the
State. ["] Lula Pitt. 1). Sept. 13. 1853; n1d Feb. 28.
1881. Dr. Guilford Yokom. b. in 1844. The) live in

tive to every breath of air or beam of sunshi11e. Her
soul was from infam-v a.ttuned to harniony. She
met you in eestasies of delight. and when she left.
you were sure an angel had been with vou. Vords
of kindness and atfeetion owed as net,-tar fron1 her
lips. and to your imagination she was a. bird of par-
adise. But these perfeetions were more than her
nature eould sustain. She lost her reason. and (lied
in an as)lum. She left a ehild. \arren. who. with
Mr. l)ameron. is in the far Vest. But her dust re-
poses in our een1eter. and a large harp. appropriately
])l:l(((l at the head of her grave. is garlanded with
honevsu-kle. Her life was a song. and her 1nonu-
ment is a lIe whose -lColian strains lull her slum-
