He edited the Platte County Advocate during the thickest of the Ring and Sorehead embroglio, and became the mediator of peace between the hostile factions. Mr. Cockrell died Nov. 1. 1883. His widow lives in Platte (ity, and is highly esteemed for intelligence and personal accomplislmients. In her maiden days. The 2.700 Missourians are at Franklin. Kansas. under Atch- ison. Stringfellow, and Reid. Gov. Gearv. under escort of Gen. Cook, visits the camp, and. after speeches from the leaders of both parties. the Missourians return home. and are disbanded.
