1868, JULY 453 JOHN MAGET. 3. Mattie Brightwell, married March 10, 1891, Thomas H. Koker. VIII. MARY F. BRIGHTWELL, b. in 1843; married June 17, 1860, Thos. King, b. March 1, 1822. They live near Hampton. Children: 1. Lizzie King, b. Aug. 20, 1861 2. John King, b. Oct. 7, 1862 3. Eva Kiing, b. in 1866; married Aug. Niter 4. Daniel B. King, married Eva Drewry 5. Kittie King 6. James King, b. June 20, 1875 7. Margaret King, b. in 1880 8. Marie King, b. Nov. 10, 1883 July 8 - Assessor Jas. A. Stone resigns, and S. F Rhea is appointed. July 10 - The Reveille hoists, for the national Democratic ticket, the names of Seymour and Blair. July 20 - Democratic meeting at Platte City, R. D. Johnson chairman, to appoint delegates to the Congressional Convention. July 24 - Alf. Hughes (colored), who murdered Daniel Jenkins, is hung in Clinton. The 14th amendment of the United States Constitution declared ratified. I. JOHN MAGET July 29 - John Maget having died, Gid. L. Brown administers. Bond, $10,000. Two sons of William Maget, of Knox County, Tenn., John and Rufus, came to Platte in 1847, arriving April 4th. John was born in Tennessee about 1810; married, in 1835, Nancy Martin, born in Tennessee in 1807, and died in Platte January 27, 1889. Children: I. WILLIAM MAGET (ii), dead; married Oct. 24, 1858, Mary A. Roach; 3 children. II. AMANDA MAGET, d. May 10, 1879; married March 8, 1866, Gid. L. Brown, son of Judge T. J. Brown, of Buchanan County. He was born July 26, 1842, entered the Southern Army Aug. 6, 1861, and served to the end. Children: 1. Emma L. Brown, married Henry Bledsoe 2. Henry Brown 3. Nannie Brown Mr. G. L.
