1871, AUG. 512 THE "VENTILATOR" An omnibus is run by Blakley and Cockrill between Platte City and Weston. Aug. 28 - The ladies of Weston give a concert for the benefit of the Kansas City Orphans' Home. Aug. 30 - L. Shepard issues another Ventilator against the "Ring". The Landmark of the 8th of September replies. Aug. 31 - The last rail of the through lines of the C. & S. W. Railway is laid. Wheat is a fair average; corn is excellent. Generous rains.
