1874, NOV. 590 JUDGE FREELAND. II. JONATHAN HARTMAN, b. April 7, 1820 III. WILLIAM M. HARTMAN, b. March 15, 1829, d. Oct. 21, 1880 IV. NANCY HARTMAN, married Capt. R. D. Johnston (see) V. JOHN R. HARTMAN, b. Oct. 7, 1830 VI. ELVIRA HARTMAN, b. March 19, 1835. She married 1st, Harry Whitlaw, who died leaving: 1. Frank Whitlaw She married second, Dr. Ben Johnson. Children: 2. Garland Johnson 3. Jakie Johnson VII. MILTON HARTMAN, died in the Confederate Army VIII. HANNAH HARTMAN, married R. Mat. Johnston (see) Nov. 22 - Fire consumed the house of B. J. Franklin, on the site of the old jail in Platte City. Nov. 27 - A 6-inch snow. DECEMBER. Dec. 1 Sir Knights Belt. Gilbert. Park, and Tufts attend the national conclave at New Orleans. Weather - A 12-inch snow that disappears the 4th. Dec. 4 H. S. Kline takes charge of the Advocate, and issues his salutatory. Convention of Good Templars at Pleasant Ridge. JUDGE JOHN FREELAND. Judge John Freeland died in Kansas. He came in 1838, and settled one mile northeast of Camden Po-int. He was one of the early justices of the peace, and held the office of county court justice. He possessed sound judgment and unblemished reputation. He removed to Kansas before the war. I. JAMES M. FREELAND, married Sarah J. Henderson, and removed to Kansas. His children were: 1. William R. Freeland 2. James Freeland 3. John Freeland 4. Ida Freeland 5. Jos. L. Freeland, married Annie Holt (see) 6. Jesse L. Freeland 7. Ann Freeland 8. Thomas Freeland II. JOHN W. FREELAND, married Sept. 9, 1849, Rebecca Eskridge, daughter of John Eskridge. They were divorced, and she married second, a Bollinghouse and led a wild career. She has returned to Platte since her father's death in 1896. III. HENRY J. FREELAND (see). IV. B. F. FREELAND, at one time a merchant of Weston Dec. 29 - Mrs. De Forest Fairchild, and other ladies of Leavenworth, lecture on temperance at Platte City. Dec. 30 - Convention of Good Templars meet at Farley, with R. M. Parrish president, and H. J. Mayo secretary.
