III. JAMES W. SETTLE, killed at Wilson Creek August 10, 1861.
IV. MARY ELIZA SETTLE, b. in 1847; married September 10, 1867, Paul Shepard, b. in Howard Co., Mo., April 17, 1841; d. April 25, 1881. He was a son of Lycurgus Shepard, and a man of note. Children:
1. Sallie Shepard, married January 10, 1884, Ben F. Lawler.
2. John J. Shepard
Mary Eliza then married December 23, 1884, Jas. H. Sloan. Children:
3. Frank Sloan, b. October 23, 1886
V. SALLIE SETTLE, b. in 1847; d. July 1, 1884; married December 12, 1866, Otho Offutt, b. in Fayette Co., Ky., April 11, 1835; came to Platte in 1843 with his father, Samuel R. Offutt, entered the Confederate army at the first call to arms, and served to the end. After his return, he settled six miles southeast of Platte City, where he still lives. Mr. Offutt married second, September 14, 1887, Elizabeth Hughes.
VI. LUCY SETTLE, married March 23, 1871, Samuel B. Stuckey, b. in Berkley Co., Va., November 28, 1846, son of Jacob A. Stuckey and Eva Ferrel, dauther of Ben Ferrel. Children:
1. Jennie V. Stuckey
2. Ada Stuckey, married December 22, 1893, Mat Shepard
3. John Stuckey
4. Ross E. Stuckey
5. Jesse Stuckey
6. George Stuckey
They live near Waldron. Mr. Stuckey is a large producer of wheat.
VII. CHARLES H. SETTLE, married November 11, 1875, Mary H. Miller, daughter of D. A. Miller. She died, leaving:

He married second, December 4, 1882, Lizzie Miller, daughter of Jas. L. Miller. Children:

VIII. JESSE P. SETTLE, b. July 3, 1853; married November 10, 1875, Belle Harrington.
September 18 - Prof. John D. Brown is appointed superintendent of schools in place of Jerry Clay, resigned.
September 23 - F. H. OHLSCLAGER having died near Farley, Jas. Wallace administers. Bond, $15,000. Children:
1. Isabella Ohlsclager, married a Schawkee

Howard County, Mo., he married Nannie Burckhartt, daughter of Nichols Burckhartt, and niece of James R.
1861 entered the Confederate Army, served to the end under General Price
