May 26 - VALENTINE BERNARD died in Platte, near Smithville.
born in Virginia November 20, 1795
came to Kentucky 1810
removed to Tennessee, thence, in 1838 to Illinois
finally to Platte in 1867
1816 married Marcy McMillan, she died in 1822
married second March 9, 1824, Martha Yates, born North Carolina, June 2, 1799, and died in Platte January 20, 1891
visited Platte in 1819, residence several years at Rialto
trading with Indians
